Heather's Cat Sitter FAQ

Everything you need to know to keep Heather purring happily

Pet Sitter Precautions

How do I give the evening wet food meal?

  • Administer between 7:30–8:00 PM.
  • Heather gets excited and may be pushy. Ignore her and avoid touching or pushing her away.
  • Take the white feeding bowl and scoop half a Sheba package into it with the plastic knife.
  • Sprinkle 0.5 grams of Miralax on top (use the scale, no mixing needed).
  • Place the bowl to the left of her food machine. She’ll start eating.
  • Store the leftover Sheba in the fridge for the next day.
  • Next day, place the half-used Sheba package in the white bowl, sprinkle 0.5 grams of Miralax, and administer.
  • After the second day, discard the empty Sheba package in the white trash bin beside the black table (or underneath the couch table).

How do I add Miralax?

  • Use the plastic spoon provided in the container.
  • Sprinkle 0.5 grams (about 1/8 teaspoon) of Miralax on the food. No mixing needed.
  • To measure: Place the bowl with food on the scale, press "On/Off" to start, and "Tare" to zero if needed. Add Miralax until the scale reads 0.5 grams. The scale turns off automatically.

What times does Heather get more antsy and hangry?

  • Heather's automated meals are at 5AM, 9AM, 1PM, and 5PM. And then manual wet food feeding at ~7:30-8PM.
  • So usually she will be more antsy and hangry in the 30 minutes leading up to those mealtimes.
  • And then she'll have more antsy zoomie energy for 30 minutes after those mealtimes.
  • So she tends to be a bit more chill outside of that window of 30 minutes before/after meals. Within that window, you may find that she is more meowy/vocal, and more prone to swipe.

How can I get Heather to be more into playing?

  • Heather seems to think she is some sort of sneaky and pouncey master apex predator hunting down mousetails or fluttering birds.
  • So she really gets into it when the wand toys are used on the couch, where she has a lot more traction for her to show off her flashy moves.
  • Feel free to try and experiment with the movement of the wand toys, moving them in a way like an unaware and unsuspecting small animal would, fluttering intermittently across the couch, creeping around and behind the pillows just outside of her visibility where she can only see the tip moving. You might find that this sort of "just-out-of-reach, just-out-of-sight" vibe really gets her going.
  • If you feel up for it, you can even try intermittent, quick, flicking movements darting across the surface of the couch or through the air above her. Doing this, you might get a chance to see Heather's acrobatic show-off side!

What to do if Heather vomits?

  • Heather sometimes eats too quickly and may vomit ("scarf-and-barf"). Here’s how to handle it:
  • Clean Up: Use the provided paper towels (slightly dampened at the kitchen sink, if needed) to wipe up the vomit and any residue on the floor.
  • Bag It: Place the residue in a baggie, tie it securely, and double-bag it.
  • Dispose: Throw the baggie in the "Trash Chute" room near the elevators.
  • Thank you for helping to keep things tidy!
